RIED HENGSTBERG Gruener Veltliner
Gruener Veltliner is the most common grape variety in the Wagram region. There exist a few different types within this variety. This wine comes from our vineyard, which is one of the highest south exposed vineyards on Hengstberg, which is with 371m sea-height the highest mountain of the Wagram region. This location is characterized by unique shell limestone soils, which lead the special aroma of wines that are grown here.
The vines here are from old traditional Veltliner-types and every plant looks a little different. This combination produces a wine that is wholesome but also deep in flavour and full of character.
Only healthy and mature berries are harvested. The must is fermented slowly in stainless steal tanks with the help of our own yeast of the vineyards. After the wine is aged on lees for 2 months.
After late decanting from the lees the wine is carefully filtered with diatomite in January and bottled after it has finished aging.
